The NHL built its Stadium Series outdoor rink inside a big tent to keep the ice in shape in case there was typical Florida weather before the Sunday, Feb. 1 game in Tampa.
It turns it won’t be necessary and the tent will be disassembled about six hours earlier than planned.
The weather forecast calls for temperatures in the low 40s around the 6:30 p.m. ET puck drop at Raymond James Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The only thing that will be hot are the two Atlantic Division teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning have only two losses (one in regulation) in their past 18 games, and they could have captain Victor Hedman in the lineup for the first time since Dec. 9. The Boston Bruins, meanwhile, are on a 10-2 run.
